Listening and enjoying "world" music is one thing — actually going to the source requires a passion that transcends mere appreciation. One must be obsessed — exactly what led German-born Norbert Küpper, aka, Riovolt to travel the world in search of inspiration and knowledge of music.

If fresh country air and deeply funky house music seem antithetical then you haven't heard the Rurals. The Devon, England-based group, headed Andy Compton and vocalist Marie "Tweek", have channeled their country life-style into a music that is as soothing and relaxing as a green meadow on a sunny day.

A DJ whose clubs, including the legendary Jazz Room in Camden, are to London's jazz-dance scene what the manger-in-the-stable is to Christianity. From Essex to estonia via the Balearic suicide and a dub-reggae cover of Seven Samurai's theme tune Paul Murphy's been ahead of the game since it began.

In nearly two decades of music-making, Michael Franti has grown from a voice of youthful rage into a clarion for social justice. Franti has always spoken his mind through his music: from his early punk rock band Beatnigs, to the industrial-noise of Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, to the conscious and soulful hip-hop of Spearhead.

French Algerian born, Jerome Derradji's Still Music has been making waves internationally since its inception. As a DJ, Jerome has played and promoted countless parties in both Chicago and DetroitWith early praise from DJ/producers and media Still Music is proving itself to be one of the more exciting imprints around.

UP, BUSTLE & OUT

Revolutionary sound miesters Up Bustle & Out have laid down their smokey, outernational sounds for over a decade. And their beats just keep growing and mutating like a wild jungle somewhere deep in the tropics.
